He risked his own life to save 1300 people he didn't know by hiding them in the hotel he was managing. The movie Hotel Rwanda is his real life story, and as he describes it is a toned down version of what really happened. Despite all of the carnage of the Rwandan Genocide, he's not a cynical person. He said he was just doing his job.
